How many pages can be transmitted per
minute? It depends. If you send out a one single page fax,
that could vary anywhere from 20 seconds to two minutes; in
some cases it could take as long as 3-4 minutes, depending on
a number of factors. The quality and composition of a fax
always have a bearing on the length of the transmission. It
also depends on the fax machine sending the fax. On our tests
on over 1000 faxes, most of the time it will take under one
minute per page – frequently only 30-40 seconds per page,
assuming that most faxes sent have multiple pages. If you
always send single page faxes, the average per page
transmission time could be up to 50% higher. Please see the
table below for a comparison of average fax transmission
times.

A common question posed to us about
our fax service is this: If I’m receiving a long fax, will it
tie up my fax number so that I cannot receive other faxes? The
answer is not necessarily. If you have only one fax number,
and no additional fax receiving channels, a long fax will tie
up your fax machine, however, if you have signed up for
additional fax receiving channels, you will be able to receive
as many simultaneous faxes as you have channels associated
with your fax number on your account.
